You wouldn't say something like: "people like parties," " people like pizza," "people like to play tennis," etc. 

Well, just like people, we are individuals. We don't all like the same things or react the same way to things.

Some of us are party animals and love to socialize with other dogs and people, some of us like to watch from the sidelines, and some of us would rather be home lying next to you with a bone...

Since you are my best friend, I trust you to know me and be on my side. Stick up for me if I’m telling you (with my body) that I don’t like something or that I’m afraid and want to leave a situation. Don’t make me let people pat me on the head if I don’t like it...
