3 Reasons Virtual Training Might Be Better Than In-Person

“You’re going to (help me) train my dog over Zoom? No, thanks. There’s no way that’s going to work. I’ll wait for someone to be able to come to my home. You can’t possibly know what my dog is like unless you see them in person.”

I get it. You’re skeptical. You have every right to be, and I was too…until I proved to myself how well it works—which, spoiler alert, is more often than not
better than in-person training! How can that be? Well, let me explain the top 3 reasons why virtual training is so incredible.

Reason #1: The trainer effect

When a trainer comes in the door, it’s an exciting—and, for some, stressful— experience for your dog. Who is this person with all these exciting games (and treats)? What are they going to do next? Mom/Dad who?

It’s called “the trainer effect.” When I’m in the room, your dog:

  • tends to pay attention to only me

  • will do things for me they won’t do for you when I leave

The other side of this is that you:

  • will leave the “driving” to me. Think of it this way: when you’re in a car someone else is driving, you tend to check out and let them do the work. If I were to ask you when you arrived to describe the route you took, you probably couldn’t, since you weren’t the one who had to do it. With virtual training, I am coaching YOU, so your dog will be learning from you right from the start.

Reason #2: Distance and availability

You might not be able to find a positive reinforcement/Certified Control Unleashed trainer near you. The great news is that I can work with you no matter where in the WORLD you live. How cool is that? And, you don’t have to clean your house for me before I get there (bonus points!).

Reason #3: You are the one your dog lives with.

This is the “dirty little secret” of dog training. I am actually training YOU. Yeah. Sorry, but it’s true, no matter what your trainer’s philosophy. Because, at the end of the day, when the trainer is gone, if your dog won’t do what they learned for you, you’re really back to square one, aren’t you?

So, have I convinced you? Are you still a skeptic? Either way, let’s talk about it. I look forward to working with YOU!
